What is Google Consent Mode v2 and why do you need to implement it now?
New regulations require you to adapt to new requirements for data processing and data collection. One tool to make sure you're compliant is Google Consent Mode v2.

Why is Google Consent Mode v2 important now?
As of May 1, 2024, Google will be checking that Google Ads accounts comply with the new privacy policy. Those who do not comply with the policy will be notified, and you may find that your accounts are closed or severely restricted. In other words, you're running out of time if you haven't already implemented this on your website.
With Google Consent Mode v2 in place, you can respect your users' privacy while gaining valuable insights for marketing and business development. The implementation of Google Consent Mode v2 will ensure privacy policy compliance, help build user trust and optimize your data management.
Consent Mode v2 allows you to collect certain types of data, even if the user does not give you full consent. In other words, you can strike a balance between data collection and user privacy. This makes it possible to maintain a certain level of insight and analysis capacity without breaking the law.
What is Google Consent Mode v2?
Google Consent Mode v2 is an advanced feature in the Google Toolbox that allows you to adjust how Google tags (such as Google Analytics and Google Ads) behave based on user consent.
When users visit a website, their consent settings determine how their data will be processed:
Full consent: All tags work as normal and all data is collected and analyzed.
Limited consent: Tagger adapts its behavior to limit data collected, thus complying with users' privacy preferences.
Google Consent Mode v2 is designed to work seamlessly with other Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) and provides detailed insights into user behavior without compromising privacy.
Here's what you need to do to get Consent Mode v2
If you advertise digitally and use Google Analytics, you must do this:
- Update your CMP (Consent Manager Platform). Use a CMP partner that is compatible with Google Consent Mode 2.0.
