Niche - a social sharing platform
In recent years, Dekode has developed a social sharing platform, which we have called Niche. With Nisje, we want people to come together to share experiences, activities and knowledge - which are easy to find again afterwards.

Knowledge is power
Every day, every hour and every minute, experience-based knowledge is created and shared when people meet in forums to share their personal opinions and thoughts. This knowledge and experience sharing is simply too important to let it disappear in a constant stream of information, as it does in some social media.
We know that knowledge is power, and that knowledge provides understanding and breaks down prejudices - which in turn leads to security and strength. Knowledge makes us grow as individuals and as a group. That's why this knowledge must be collected and preserved.
We at Dekode have created a place where you can have good conversations and exchange experiences in an open community, in a closed group, or under a specific theme or category. Information shared on the platform, which we call Nisje, is easy to find and retrieve afterwards. That's what Niche is all about: - Preserving knowledge. Niche can be used both as a closed forum for members of an association, as an intranet for a company or as open meeting rooms. Let us give you some concrete (and real) examples:
Niche as a membership platform
We have developed the social portal Oppsiden.no for the Norwegian Network for Down Syndrome (NNDS) based on Nisje. Anyone can register on Oppsiden.no. NNDS wants as many people as possible to have access to up-to-date information about Down syndrome, which can be found in their knowledge library. The aim is to preserve the important advice and experiences that are exchanged between peers.
A real issue here could be that a mother shares her experience of what it is like to breastfeed a newborn child with Down syndrome. Let's say she does this in a group on a different social platform. She gets a lot of responses back with experiences from other mothers. Her post will quickly end up at the bottom of the information stream and disappear, so that when a new mother asks the same question months or years later, she will struggle to find the answer, but will have to ask again.
On a niche platform, such as Oppsiden.no, you will instead be able to search for the discussion by using the word "breastfeeding" or find the post in a relevant group, e.g. the group "Breastfeeding children with Down syndrome". That way, new mothers who are looking for other people's experiences can easily search and find what has been shared before. Recent or long ago, it's still relevant and important!

Use Niche to grow your network
Another example is SHE Community - also a Niche platform. Here, the goal is to create a network that inspires, motivates and engages people to join forces and work side by side for a more diverse working life. SHE Community is also open and free for anyone who wants to register.
In different groups, partners can have their own space to showcase themselves, individuals can share opinions and thoughts on the "wall" for all to see, or you can join a closed group to discuss specific topics.
Use Niche as your intranet
Library Development's forum is a closed niche platform, only for employees at Norwegian libraries. Here, all the country's local libraries have their own group for internal communication. In addition, they have groups based on topics where they can discuss various things across locations and at a national level.

Content Hub
If you have a small editorial team, an association or a team, you can use Niche to gather, discuss and increase knowledge about various topics. You can then use these as a starting point for creating content for your website. Good posts that emerge in this form of sharing can, with Niche, be pulled out directly on a website for the benefit of everyone.
We are now working on creating such a solution for Nordnorsk Reiseliv. This is a region that organizes many small and large activities from individual players. Nisje is therefore used to create cooperation, synergies and best practices to promote Northern Norway as a destination.
Tailor-made for you!
Niche is a social sharing platform that can be tailored to your business - whether you want a community and network for members, as an intranet for your company, or as a communication platform for schools and universities.
Through Nisje, we have created a platform that takes into account that all areas, all niches, can be strengthened by sharing and taking care of the collective knowledge development. Like most of what we do at Dekode , Nisje is also based on WordPress - giving you as an editor the best working tool in the backend. Through our own app and notifications, you and your users will always be up to date on what's happening.
