New Høyre.no brings together over 350 related pages
It started with a message on Dekode 's Facebook page in early January 2020. - Hi, wondering one thing about websites: Can you integrate membership systems from Winorg?
The answer was simply yes - and eleven months later, in the midst of a pandemic and a locked-down Norway, we launched a new website for the country's ruling party: The Conservatives!

New website for new communication needs
- "In short, we can say that we had a solution that worked well, but did not meet our communication needs," says Christian A. Schjelderup, digital advisor for the Conservative Party. He has played a key role in the rapid development of the new website, which is the result of good and effective collaboration between Dekode and the Conservatives.
Høyre.no had more than 350 associated websites for the local teams, with a large number of editors. At the same time, they also wanted to retain and further develop their own member areas.
We wanted a modular approach, where we could work with an agency to define which blocks we needed. We wanted it to be a breeze to build websites for the main organization and local branches - and not an embarrassing affair.

- At the same time, it was important that we launched the website in 2020, so that we had the time and opportunity to focus on the election campaign in 2021.
After a process involving offers from four agencies, the choice finally fell on Dekode. Despite the short time frame, we rolled up our sleeves and got started on the exciting job.

Design for digital surfaces
- "When we started working with Høyre in late May/early June, the new design wasn't ready yet. At the same time, the launch date in early December seemed very close," says advisor Jørgen Bertelsen at Dekode.
So we did what we often do at Dekode: We invited the customer into Figma from day one. That way, they could see our design files and we could work closely together all the way.

The right person could comment directly in the files and meetings were arranged to check things along the way. And texts for the website could be added directly to the shared work files.
- Working together in this way gave us all great confidence and strengthened our commitment to the project," continues Jørgen.
Designer Joacim Sjöberg from Dekode was given a good division of labor with communications advisor and responsible for visual design in the Conservative Party, Christian Hushovd.
Hushovd had already created the basis for the new design, while Joacim contributed by facilitating and arranging for the design to be optimal on the web. A complete design system was created for the web that contains all Høyre's content blocks. Among other things, the design system takes into account the color palette, contrasts and fonts.
- In order to keep up the momentum, we needed to work in parallel with development and design. We started testing design elements at an early stage to see how they behaved on the digital surface. We also considered which tools were critical for the first launch and we quickly trained Høyre employees on the new websites," says Jørgen.

Migration
- "We're an organization built from the bottom up," says Christian about the Conservatives. "Without our elected representatives and contributors in local teams, we wouldn't be much. That's why it's so important to have a good multisite, so that those in the local teams also have a toolbox they can use to communicate in the best possible way.
- "One thing you can say about this assignment is that a lot of data has to be retrieved from the Winorg membership system," says Jørgen. "This includes information about people - both members and politicians, as well as contact information for local teams.
- "What's special about this project is that we've launched almost all of the 375 associated websites without involving the local branches of the Conservative Party," says advisor Jørgen at Dekode - and that's despite the fact that we've made special adaptations for the various associations and that we've extracted a lot of data from the Winorg membership system. This includes information about people - both members and politicians, as well as contact information for local teams.
He says that Dekode has listed all the details, migrated and exported all old articles and info from previous pages. "This has saved Høyre a lot of work: By not spending effort on a big clean-up job, they have instead had the opportunity to spend valuable time on sharpening the content about who and what Høyre is.

mobile and iPad.
Member area - My Right
- " Mitt Høyre was previously a kind of community solution that was reserved for elected representatives, not the ordinary member," says Christian. "We wanted to lower the threshold in this area, give it an easy login, while at the same time strengthening the content and making it even more exclusive for members.
Dekode created a new My Conservative where everyone who signs up gets a login. There they can edit their own profile and you can easily pay for a new membership.
- "As a member, you now get some 'gated content', i.e. exclusive content that lies behind the login and is only available to members," says Jørgen. "These are not secrets, but it gives the Conservatives a golden opportunity to communicate directly to their members. At the same time, it gives members added value, which creates a satisfied and loyal member base.
He adds that Dekode has also been working on payment solutions and creating its own "flow" to make the process of signing up, as well as giving simple gifts or becoming a regular donor, even easier for users.

The new Conservative Party logo has a more energetic blue tone.
The color creates eye-catching in the digital surfaces. The logo was last updated in 2012.
Ready for selection
Christian A. Schjelderup explains that the new logo and identity were launched on the same day that Høyre.no was launched. "All the surfaces we own have been changed - even Høyres Hus has a new flag. It was always our intention to launch the website and identity at the same time. This means that we are ready for the election campaign now in 2021.
- It's clear that the new website affects how we communicate," he says. "The new Høyre.no makes our program and election promises available and presents them in the best possible way, making it easier for voters to find and understand our policies.
