Let us introduce you to Gutenberg!

What is Gutenberg?

Gutenberg is a modular editing tool in WordPress that provides great flexibility for developers, designers and editors.

Gutenberg gives us i Dekode the opportunity to build great and good editorial solutions for our clients . For you who client it means that you don't have to force your content into a template, which doesn't always fit. Now, instead, you get the freedom to customize page layouts and posts yourself in a simple way, using modules.

Meet your new best friends: modules!

With Gutenberg, you build modules based on the block principle. Imagine a box full of Lego bricks that can be put together in countless different ways. Gutenberg allows us to design, code and build our own modules or "Lego bricks". Customers can then use these themselves to create flexible solutions and layouts.

Modules are a great new tool that can be used to build engaging content. With modules, you can insert, organize and style content with little technical knowledge. Instead of using custom code, you can add a block and focus on your content. This gives editors a lot of freedom to customize a page or post according to the content - without being experts or developers.

Adapted to the future

The entire editing experience with Gutenberg is designed for media-rich pages and posts. This allows you to use images, videos and other media files the way you want. Through the modules, you will experience flexibility and playfulness when designing your content.

Gutenberg makes the website far more flexible and can be adapted to the future, rather than being outdated after a year or two. We in Dekode can easily update, change or replace single modules for you as client . This means that the website is continuously maintained and improved according to your needs. That way, you will have a website that is always up to date, instead of a page that gradually becomes outdated until it needs to be redesigned.

Design system for multisite

IN Dekode we get more and more clients which has multisite, which consists of more than one website, with anywhere from 5 to 80 pages. Then it is not about building individual modules, but building a design system of modules that works across multisites.

When we create a Gutenberg module, we aim for it to work seamlessly across multiple websites. This means that we need to think more holistically and develop a scalable design system. WordPress and Gutenberg are extremely good tools for this purpose.

More than just an editing tool

The launch of Gutenberg in 2019 was just the beginning. It is a new way for us who work with code to develop and create new modules, for the good of ours clients . In addition, it is a new approach for editors and content producers to work with content. Through Gutenberg, ours get clients the ability to adapt and build content on their own terms.

Dekode helps you to tailor

Gutenberg opens up the freedom to do a variety of things. But with so much freedom also comes many choices and it can be difficult to create a good frame, which makes your website both look good and work optimally for your users. It also takes time to build a Gutenberg site from scratch, and it's easy to get lost in all the possibilities and features. We in Dekode helps you as client with tailoring your WordPress website with Gutenberg to your and your readers' needs.

We have developed Teft - a design system and coding framework that covers most needs that recur from project to project. The design system deliberately has as little identity as possible so that we can adapt the identity to the customer. Teft focuses on interaction design and technology.

By using Teft, we can cost-effectively create web solutions that take care of recurring interaction and functionality. Instead, we can spend more time on what makes each project unique. Sometimes that means focusing on identity and uniqueness. Other times it means complex and business-critical technology. Whatever we, together with the customer, choose to focus on, it's the potential to create value that is the deciding factor.
