Dekode helped DSS become self-sufficient and improve their efficiency
The Ministries' Security and Service Organization (DSS) is responsible for a wide range of security, HR, operational and digital services for the ministries in Norway. They are subject to strict government requirements and rely on well-oiled technical machinery to keep everything running smoothly.
The challenge
DSS has total responsibility for 152 standalone, full websites. They have a competent team to design and maintain them, with extensive experience in WordPress. However, the sheer volume of work means they need some outside help to create and maintain an ecosystem that allows them to do as much as possible on their own.
Working with Dekode is, in some ways, like a marriage. Often it's bliss, sometimes it's not, but overall we have a very good relationship. Their professional expertise have made them win our public tenders four times in a row.

The results
Through the collaboration with Dekode, DSS has automated and simplified large parts of its website work. The parties keep in close contact and collaborate via Jira, Slack and regular standup meetings. DSS has received help in migrating and setting up its operating environment, and has automated time-consuming technical measures such as certificates and security.
As DSS does all of its own design, Dekode's role has been to create a design system and framework that makes it easy to update large amounts of graphic elements at once. The underlying technical rig and their templates are continuously maintained by Dekode so that the tech never becomes outdated and creates legacy issues*.
*Legacy issues refer to challenges related to older systems, codes or technologies that are still in use but are no longer in line with modern standards or best practices.
Dekode has also helped DSS with setup and configuration to get everything into Microsoft Azure. Recently, the organization has also received a lot of support in the transition to the latest version of WordPress, from the old text field-based variant to the new and user-friendly WYSIWYG editor Gutenberg.
Overall, the collaboration with Dekode helps DSS save large amounts of time through streamlined work processes, while the open source-based platform used also means that they save large sums on licensing costs. This gives DSS a much easier and more flexible workday, while avoiding spending more tax money than necessary.
