Music using block-based coding
Beats Unlocked gives you the opportunity to create musical beats using block-based coding in Javascript. Dekode is a partner of Facebook, and were given the job of creating the project's web solution.
Who
Beats Unlocked by Facebook is a virtual workshop for disadvantaged middle and high school youth in the United States. This project empowers youth to be creative, explore and have fun making their own music.
The challenge
Facebook Int. is one client on a long-term cooperation plan. Dekode won a pitch with the Career Connections project a few years ago.
We worked with Facebook's product and engineering department, EdMod Labs. The assignment was to experiment with different ways of bringing technology into the classroom. Dekode had already created the websites for a number of EdMod Labs projects.
We work a lot with non-profit, voluntary organizations and NGOs, so when we had to work with a social media platform of Facebook's caliber, it's cool that it was EdMod Labs.

The result
This is definitely a project that stands out. It shows what we at Dekode are capable of creating. The website is visually spectacular and we have tailored every single block.

Dekode and Facebook have a long-term framework agreement. This means continuous fine-tuning of the existing web solutions we've created in the past, which means that we're also responsible for creating the new subpages for the latest project, Beats Unlocked.
