Mollie: A solid content platform
Mollie wanted to change their web solution and chose to move from a headless CMS to a WordPress multisite solution after a thorough technical assessment with Dekode. We developed several custom features, including content syndication, a centralized translation database, and technical optimization for SEO, to help Mollie fulfill their online growth ambitions.
Who
Mollie is a Dutch provider of integrations to payment solutions. Their services enable their customers to access a large number of payment solutions at the click of a button. Mollie works with a number of large companies such as Apple Pay, Mastercard and Klarna. Mollie's goal is to make payment a delightful experience.
The challenge
When Mollie joined Dekode in the fall of 2021, they were on a headless CMS. The setup was dependent on internal development resources and resulted in web publishing hindering further growth on the web. They wanted to make the editorial experience easier for their editors regardless of development capacity. Mollie has also undergone a brand change that had not been reflected on the website.
Mollie envisioned continuing with headless CMS, but through a technical pre-project requirements analysis, the conclusion from Mollie and Dekode was clear. A WordPress multisite solution was best suited to their growth ambitions.

The result
To deliver the content platform that Mollie needs, Dekode developed a number of features. These include an extension to syndicate content across markets so that content written for one market can be re-used. We also expanded the translation functionality with a centralized database for reusing translated texts and synchronizing media content.
The solution is technically optimized for good SEO performance with structured data, link structures and metadata for different languages.
Using a solid content platform with great multilingual content re-use capabilities, translation features, content hyperlocalization and lead-generating integrations, Mollie is well-equipped to scale to new markets beyond the 7 they are present in.

Good tools for content
In a product organization like Mollie, it was crucial to create content tools that are consistent with design and product guidelines. Dekode has, in close dialogue with Mollie, developed a block tool and library of content sections that meet the needs of content production while systematizing workflows.
Development
The website is integrated with the customer's Salesforce system and handles everything from lead generation for potential new leads clients . The Salesforce modules are part of the block library developed for Mollie and allow them to create campaigns without the assistance of technical resources.
SEO
Maintaining SEO value was a very important success factor for Mollie and Dekode has worked together with Mollie's internal team to migrate content and to quality control the migration of content. Dekode has performed a combination of automatic migration of content metadata and manual tests. The migration went so well that Mollie won the Friends of Search Award for best migration project in early 2023.
In addition to a technical delivery, Dekode has delivered recruitment consultancy
As part of the input values for this project, Mollie was clear that they wanted to have all development in-house after the launch of the project. In addition to delivering the web project with Mollie, Dekode has assisted with the recruitment of WordPress developers both with the design of developer challenge to candidates and interviews with candidates together with Mollie's middle management.
